Marine Spatial Planning and European Marine Policy

PISCES stakeholders had the unique opportunity to ask some of the world’s leading experts and decision makers about managing the marine environment.

We held two online tutorials in September and October 2010 covering marine spatial planning and European marine policy. Participants watched video presentations and submitted their questions to leading marine figures in a virtual setting.

This was a unique opportunity for PISCES stakeholders and their constituents to develop a greater understanding of marine management. Many presenters and a team of marine experts from WWF will be available to answer participants’ questions. Speakers include: Hermien Busschbach, DG Mare; Mr Franz Lamplmair, DG Maritime Affairs & Fisheries; Leo de Vrees, DG Environment; Naomi Matthiesson, Defra, UK Government; Ainhoa Pérez Puyol, Division for the Protection of the Sea and Prevention of Marine Pollution, Spanish Government; and more.

We regreat that these presentations are currently not available for wider viewing.  Where possible we are seeking permission to broadcast film material and will update the site in coming months. To find out more about the content, download our summary report (pdf).

View the Marine Spatial Planning online tutorial.  This is a short tutorial introducing the concept of Marine Spatial Planning for the Celtic Sea*. This film is particularly useful for people who are new to this subject. The tutorial has been created by adapting a booklet originally created for the Baltic Sea (produced by WWF-Germany).
