Celtic Sea interactive map
Enabling stakeholders to share knowledge about their sector is key to the success of PISCES.
By better understanding the wide range of activities in the Celtic Sea* and exploring interactions between different users, they will be able to develop guidelines that are sensitive to both economic and environmental needs.
But sharing complex information across a wide variety of sectors and multiple countries is a challenge! To facilitate the process, PISCES has developed an interactive mapping tool to allow stakeholders to upload environmental data or information on activities they know occur in the region. As the project progresses, this map will grow, providing increasing clarity on human activity in the Celtic Sea*.
This map has recently been launched with basic data and we’ll be gathering information from stakeholders over the course of the next two years.

Sharing what we learn
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is using the same technology for mapping activities in the marine environment for the UK. PISCES has adopted a mapping tool which is compatible with other projects to enable a cross-sharing of information and a strategy will be put in place to ensure that anything we gather remains accessible and useful to people after the life of the project.
